Village Insurance Scheme (VIS)

Crop insurance is a scheme to safeguard the interest of the farmers and to protect them against the element of risk and to mitigate the losses incurred by the farmers on account of natural calamities and stabilization of farm income. The DES is facilitating the Agriculture Department to implement the scheme funded by them

The status of implementation of scheme in Telangana during 2015-16 Kharif is as follows:

  • 1315 Contract Primary Workers & 139 Contract Supervisors has been appointed under this scheme.

    • 1. Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda and Warangal Districts were selected under Paddy Crop
    • 2. No.of units constituted : 2,920
    • 3. No.of experiments to be Conducted: 12,076
    • 4. Cutoff Date for enrollment 31-01-2016 for Loanee and non-Loanee farmers.

  • Constitution of units is based on previous year area at minimum area of 100 hectares per unit in a village or group of villages.
